Where is the gold?

Допра́шивают чу́кчу че́рез перево́дчика:
– Чу́кча, где́ ты спря́тал зо́лото?
Перево́дчик:
– Чу́кча, где́ ты спря́тал зо́лото?
Чу́кча:
– Не скажу́!
Перево́дчик:
– Он не ска́жет.
– Е́сли ты не ска́жешь, где зо́лото, мы тебя́ убьём!
Перево́дчик:
– Чу́кча, они́ тебя́ убью́т, е́сли ты им не ска́жешь, где зо́лото.
Чу́кча:
– Зо́лото зары́то у вхо́да ю́рту.
Перево́дчик:
– Стреля́йте, сво́лочи, всё равно́ не скажу́!

In English

A Chukchi man is interrogated through an interpreter:
- Chukchi, where did you hide the gold?
Interpreter:
- Chukchi, where did you hide the gold?
Chukchi:
- I will not tell!
Interpreter:
- He won't tell.
- If you don’t tell me where the gold is, we’ll kill you!
Interpreter:
- Chukchi, they will kill you if you don't tell them where the gold is.
Chukchi:
- The gold is buried at the entrance to the yurt.
Interpreter:
- Shoot me, bastards, I won't tell you anyway!

Chukchi man is a popular character of Russian anecdotes. Chukchi is a very small number of the indigenous people of the extreme North-East of Eurasia, spread out over a vast territory. In anecdotes, Chukchi man is notable for his extreme naivete and simplicity which are brought about by difficult life conditions.
